Short selling transactions were prohibited from being carried out on Borsa Istanbul Equity Market on February 6, 2023 by a Capital Markets Board (the “CMB”) resolution, following the major earthquake in the southeast region of Türkiye in February 2023.
The CMB repealed this prohibition effective yesterday (January 2, 2025) for BIST 50 shares.
The CMB also stated that, it will be mandatory to press the short sale button at the sale of shares not owned by the seller and closed on the same day (the CMB Resolution dated December 5, 2024).
