Gürcan Önol

Gürcan Onol has more than 20 years of experience in corporate, regulatory and employment matters.
Önol is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Private Law, at Marmara University, specializing in employment law. He completed his master’s degree at Tufts University, the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy in Massachusetts, USA. Gürcan Önol graduated from Ankara University, School of Law in 1991.
After completing his mandatory internship to practice law at the Bar of Ankara in 1992, Gürcan Önol started to work for the Turkish Prime Ministry, State Planning Organization (DPT), a prestigious government institution responsible for the economic development of Turkey. After working for ten years in the public sector, Önol accepted a job offer from JTI (Japan Tobacco International) a Global Fortune 500 company manufacturing tobacco products. After working for three years at JTI as the legal affairs manager, he accepted a job offer from Tesco – Kipa, another Global Fortune 500 company doing business in the retail industry. He worked for three years as the legal director, company secretary, and member of the board of directors of Tesco Kipa. He has been providing legal services as an attorney at law since 2008. Gürcan Önol is experienced in the FMCG and retail sectors, as well as in employment law, obligation law, commercial law, and commercial contracts. He is fluent in English and German. His publications include the DPT Publication: “Conformity Problem of Turkish Private Consumption Tax System with European Community Private Consumption Tax System” (1997). He's a member of the Istanbul Bar Association.
